Alex loves her traditional classic blocks, but she is also drawn to patterns that offer options for diagonal shading and sets, the Basket block, with its on-point orientation, holds double the attraction. Just watch what you can do with this traditional block.
In this series, Alex will share the essential techniques for building accurate quilt blocks, show you how to create them in a variety of sizes, and off the tips and tricks she's learned over a lifetime of quilting.
Enjoy lessons with Alex on stash busting and different ways to select fabric for your quilts, including color choices, focus fabrics choices, neutral choices and more. You'll also look at working with digitally printed fabrics and holiday fabrics.
Join Alex for a fun improv play date while learning new tricks and tips for freeform piecing. Set the rules aside as yo u fill your tool belt with new piecing possibilities. You will stretch your creative muscles in ways you never suspected.
Alex talks with organization expert, Lilo Bowman, about organizing your creative space. Topics include: working on a budget, studio lighting, storing quilts, labelling itmes, organizing rulers, how to store fusibles and more.
In this class you will learn the value of Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP). You'll work with Alex on basic blocks that lend themselves to FBB. The blocks are presented in order of difficulty. In the end you will understand the process and will have created a fresh and fun wallhanging.
Build a sampler quilt and learn about fabric selection, partial seams, raw edge appliqué, and quilt construction. Make a number of different blocks including house, snowball, sawtooth star, monkey wrench, baskets, spools, and more.
